Grand Soleil Making Its Mark in Hong Kong

Asia Yacht Services has recently been successful in selling multiple Grand Soleil sailing monohulls and Seawind sailing catamarans from its portfolio of brands. In addition to its other services, which include brokerage, charter, sailing instruction, and a great deal more, Asia Yacht Services is a leader in the yachting industry.

Asia Yacht Services (AYS) has completed the delivery of a Grand Soleil 44 to its owner in Hong Kong. The delivery began at the Cantiere del Pardo shipyard in Italy and had multiple stops along the way to its final destination.

The Hong Kong-based boat, which was ordered in the Race configuration, is one of three recent sales of the GS 44 in the Asia-Pacific region. The other two transactions were from the Gulf of Thailand and Sydney, respectively.

The Grand Soleil GS 44R sailing yacht known as Wild Card has just recently arrived in Hong Kong. She is the first of two Grand Soleil sailing yachts that are scheduled to arrive in 2022 through Asia Yacht Services, which was appointed as the brand’s dealer for the city in 2018. Asia Yacht Services was given this appointment in 2018.

Deck and interior design for the GS 44 were created by Nauta Design, while naval architecture was developed by Matteo Polli. The GS 44 is offered in two distinct versions: the regular Performance and the Race.

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club recently commissioned the yacht Wild Card, and it can currently be found berthed at the club’s Shelter Cove facility in Sai Kung. The owner of the GS 44R recently had new sails fabricated and has aspirations of using the vessel for both cruising and racing.

The GS 44R is a performance sailing yacht that was designed with a hull that is 44 feet long, an overall length that is almost 48 feet long, and a beam that is over 14 feet wide. This model offers a variety of “go-fast” options that can be optimized for use with either ORC or IRC, as the model demonstrated in her first full racing season in 2021, having been launched the year before.

A genset and an air-conditioning package have been installed on the Wild Card in order to better manage the heat and humidity that can be experienced in Hong Kong and other locations in the region.

“The owner of Wild Card is satisfied, and the commissioning was a straightforward procedure with the backing of the expert team at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club,” stated Bart J. Kimman, Director of Asia Yacht Services.

Any racing crew will find the GS 44R’s roomy cockpit to be a treat, and helming this boat will be an exhilarating experience. In addition, Wild Card comes with a generator and air conditioning unit as standard equipment to ensure the utmost in onboard comfort, regardless of whether the voyage will be spent for a weekend in Mirs Bay or at some remote anchorage in the Philippines.

AYS has also closed the sale of a GS 42 LC, and the vessel is expected to arrive in Hong Kong at the end of 2022. The deck and interior of the builder’s GS 42 LC, which is part of the Long Cruise range, were designed by Nauta Design. Marco Lostuzzi was responsible for the boat’s naval architecture.

The yacht has a hull length of 42 feet 4 inches, a LOA of 45 feet 4 inches, and a beam length of 13 feet 8 inches. It may be customized with a variety of features, such as a sailing rig, a cockpit arc, two or three staterooms, electric winches, and a generator and air conditioning unit.

Since its founding in 2004, AYS has been an authorized dealer for Grand Soleil and J/Boat sailing monohulls, Seawind and Nautitech catamarans, Corsair trimarans, and Bavaria sailing and motor boats. Additionally, the company provides brokerage, charter, maintenance, and other specialized services.

AYS has sold three Seawind catamarans, including two units of the 1370 (45 feet) and one unit of the 1160 (38 feet), each with the intention of engaging in long-range cruising.

In addition, AYS has sold three Grand Soleil sailing yachts. The well-liked 1370 is one of the newest models produced by the firm, which has produced over 800 different kinds of catamarans. It has a beam of 25 feet.

“We still have some choices for 2022 and early 2023 for delivery of sailing monohulls in the range of 40-45 feet and sailing catamarans between 44 and 46 feet,” says Kimman. “These lengths apply to sailing vessels.”

AYS works along with Rob Partridge Racing to promote the J/70 one-design class in Hong Kong and to provide individualized training programs for new owners of cruising and racing boats.

This is in addition to AYS’s cooperation with J/Boats, which was mentioned before. Classes are taught on AYS’s very own J/70 sport boat, which also serves as a platform for racing clinics; students have their choice of several different classes.

AYS has been successful in selling many brokerage yachts, one of which was a DeFever 44 trawler motor yacht. The new owner of this yacht sailed it to Phuket after traveling through the waterways of the Philippines and Indonesia.

We have a quality range of pre-owned boats, all of which have been examined carefully before being made available for purchase. The market for previously owned goods is huge but also rather varied.

“We have everything from the smallest one-design races to the most advanced offshore sailing vessels,” said Kimman.

When you acquire a pre-owned yacht, there is usually a list of things that need to be done once you actually own the boat. We assist you in organizing this list, as well as managing and supervising the appropriate renovations using the most qualified subcontractors.

AYS also offers luxury yacht charters to its customers through its subsidiary, My Yacht Moments. These yachts are part of AYS’s own fleet of sailing catamarans, and AYS has chartered them in both the Mediterranean and Indonesia.

In addition, the superyacht support services offered by the corporation have been reactivated in response to requests from vessels that are planning to visit Hong Kong.

AYS is able to assist owners in the development of maintenance programs as well as the management of those programs. According to Kimman, “This eliminates the trouble and provides owners with more opportunities to enjoy themselves on the sea.”

According to Kimman, the company has also been appointed as the Asia distributor for Dinnteco lightning protection systems. These systems make use of technology that has been tested and patented and has been endorsed by organizations such as NATO. According to Kimman, these systems are “must have equipment for any sailing yachts staying in (sub) tropical waters.”

In the meantime, AYS has been the operational partner of Delta Marina and Express Service, a multi-mooring facility located in Hei Ling Chau, which is located off the south coast of Lantau Island, ever since the previous year.

The Marine Department has given Delta Marina approval to sell and maintain up to 600 new moorings that can accommodate yachts measuring up to 70 meters in length.

According to Kimman, “Our professional crew is made up entirely of people who are passionate about watersports, so we know what it takes to make your time on the water enjoyable.” “We will assist you in the purchase of the boat that is the best fit for your requirements as well as offer advice during the choosing process.

More importantly, we will provide training at multiple levels to familiarize you and your family or team with operating, cruising, or racing your boat, and we can even help you find a mooring for it.
